Stress-Free Weekend

Sometimes you just need to have a lazy weekend! At least that’s what I tell myself so I feel better when I don’t get much of anything done. I did some laundry and put some stuff away but other than that I was pretty darn lazy. I hung out with my cat on my lap watching cheesy Lifetime movies. No matter how predictable and ridiculous they can be, I still find myself watching them. I even slept in and then took an extra long nap on Saturday. Yes, I take naps. Don’t judge me. 😉

Lately, I have been so stressed out about things with our new house and with trying to get pregnant. So, I figured it would be nice to have a relaxing, stress-free weekend. I was right and I enjoyed it very much! Eliminating stress is always a good thing and definitely something I need to work on.

Current goal: Less stress, more positive thinking

Fertility Blend Supplement

IMG_2160

I’m currently debating whether or not I should take the Fertility Blend supplement. It states that it is a dietary supplement that has a premium formula of nutrients that are essential for fertility health. My husband decided to purchase some for each of us to see if it would help me get pregnant sooner. He has been taking the recommended dosage for the past 2 weeks but I have only taken a couple of capsules. I have been researching online and trying to see what other people think about it. Like with everything, there are pros and cons so I was just wondering if any of you have experience taking it.

I usually try to take a more natural approach to things and have just been trying to cut out junk food and have been eating more nutritious foods. I’m thinking that doing that alone isn’t really doing much for me though.

I have also been looking into ordering some raw Maca root powder because I have heard that it can increase fertility. So if any of you have experience taking that then I would love to hear if it helped or not. If you have information on other things that helped with your fertility, feel free to share that info as well. I’ll probably continue to do some more research before I decide to start taking something regularly. I’ll keep you all posted!

Ovulation and OPKs

Even though I was disappointed when AF showed up, I was also glad because it meant I would finally be able to track my ovulation.

As you know, AF just showed up at the beginning of this week. So why would I take an ovulation test already? Because I have issues! HAHA. It is WAY to early to test for an LH surge and I know that. I just got anxious and decided I would take one just for the heck of it I guess. My Wondfo ovulation test strips haven’t come in yet so that means I wasted one of my more expensive ones.

I need to stop being so darn impatient!

Even though AF showed up really late, I am going to test my ovulation based on a 28-day cycle this month since that is what my cycle used to be. I promised myself I would wait until CD 11 before I test again. Here’s to keeping my promise to myself!!

The BFN…no smiley face.

Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) Information

What is a loop electrosurgical excision procedure? It is a procedure a doctor does in order to get rid of abnormal tissues on your cervix. They use a thin, low-voltage electrified wire loop to cut out these abnormal tissues. If you need to have a LEEP procedure, it’s because your pap smear indicated the presence of abnormal cervical cells or cervical dysplasia. Usually, before they proceed with this procedure they will do a colposcopy in order to confirm that there are abnormal cells present. Your doctor will use a lighted magnifying device (a colposcope) so they can see problems that could be missed by the naked eye. If your doctor does a colposcopy then they may put vinegar or iodine (like my doctor did) onto the cervix to see the problem areas more clearly.  If any of these areas turn white from the solution used then they will take biopsies from those areas and submit them to pathology. My biopsies came back with mild and moderate dysplasia so my doctor wanted me to have a LEEP procedure. I did not have any complications and as far as I have been told, everything has healed up nicely.

Just like with any type of surgery there can be risks involved though. I was told that this should not affect my fertility but there are rare cases were it can cause infertility. I was told that the main concern is possible cervical incompetence, meaning the cervix is unable to stay closed during pregnancy. This can result in miscarriage and/or pre-term labor. A cervical cerclage, where the cervix is sewn closed, can be done to ensure that your cervix remains closed during the pregnancy. I am a bit of a worry wart so I am just hoping that I don’t have to experience either one of these.

If you would like to know the timeline that led up to me having my LEEP procedure then click here to watch my video. Also, my doctor called it a LEEP procedure and that’s what many people refer to it as…but I always feel weird saying it because the “P” in LEEP is for procedure so it’s like procedure… procedure? Anyways… If you have any questions about the procedure, feel free to ask and I can give more details on my experience!

Aunt Flo, How I Hate Thee

Oh the irony! Today I was planning on going to the doctor to get a blood test done to see if I was pregnant or not. Then, after 2 months of being MIA, AF decided to show up and dissolve my hopes of being pregnant. I told my best friend that I was being pessimistic so that if the blood test still showed I wasn’t pregnant then I wouldn’t be disappointed. I must admit though, in the back of my head I really thought my hCG levels were just too low to register on a home pregnancy test and I was thinking the blood test was going to give me the “positive” I was looking for. I guess the plus side of all of this is that now I will be able to track my ovulation and hopefully be on track to getting pregnant! I have some of the Clear Blue ovulation sticks and will be purchasing some of the cheaper ones off of Amazon so I can see if I ovulate at all this month. I am going to try to focus on just going with the flow so that I don’t stress out too much about it though!

I will get pregnant when it is meant to happen…that’s what I have to keep telling myself.

If you want to check out my first TTC Vlog click here. When I uploaded the video to my computer the quality wasn’t that bad but once I uploaded it to YouTube, it was really blurry. I was going to redo the video but didn’t get a chance since we have still been getting settled into our new house. I have a decent DSLR camera so I am going to mess around with the settings to make sure I have better quality videos! Any suggestions would be appreciated as well. 🙂

Our TTC Journey

Since this is my very first blog entry, I’ll start by giving you some background info on myself and my husband. I am 25, my husband is 28, and we have been married for 7 years (so as some of my friends say, it’s about time we start trying for a baby…haha). We do have two kitty-cat furbabies though, Angel and Mittens. I work as an at-home advisor for Apple and he is in the Air Force. We are rarely ever on the same work schedule so life can be pretty hectic…and can make trying to conceive a little more difficult. Over the past few years we kept saying we were going to start trying but my husband deployed for 9 months and while he was gone we found out we would be PCSing. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to help move anything so we decided to wait until we were all settled in our new home. Now, over a year later…I wish we would’ve just started when he got back!

We have been trying since August 2014 and as my friend Robby used to tell me, “Patience is a virtue” and I will say what I used to say to him…it’s one that I don’t possess! I am learning that I have no control over this though and my husband keeps telling me it will happen once I stop stressing about it. I am still holding out a bit of hope though because the last 2 months I have missed my period…though all of my tests have shown a BFN. So I have obviously turned into a POAS addict! I will be going to my Dr. tomorrow to get a blood test to confirm if I am pregnant or not. If I’m not, then my poor body must just be so out of whack from stopping birth control after being on it for about 8 years. If you have any spare “baby dust”, please sprinkle some my way!!

I am usually a very private person, so this a little out of my element…but welcome to my blog and my life!
